Polish player Hubert Hurkacz faced a tough challenge in the quarterfinals of the Paris Rolex Masters against Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov. Despite his best efforts, Hurkacz ultimately lost the match with a score of 6-1, 4-6, 6-4.
Hurkacz, who has had a successful autumn with a title at the Shanghai Masters 1000 and a final appearance at the ATP 500 Basel, seemed to struggle during the match. In the first set, he had a slow start and was unable to recover, losing the set in just 27 minutes.
Dimitrov, wearing a bandage on his left thigh, appeared to be on track for the semifinals without much difficulty. However, Hurkacz managed to regroup and fought back in the second set. Unfortunately, he lost another service game in the third set, leading to his ultimate defeat.
Despite the loss, Hurkacz has had an impressive run in the tournament, defeating the 3rd-ranked player, Daniil Medvedev, earlier in the week. Dimitrov acknowledged Hurkacz’s strong performance, noting his powerful serve as a particularly challenging aspect of the match.
This victory marks Dimitrov’s first time reaching the semifinals at Bercy, and he expressed his satisfaction with the playing conditions and his connection with France. He also mentioned the importance of staying in a winning position throughout the season. To secure a spot in the finals, he will have to overcome either Stefanos Tsitsipas or Karen Khachanov in the next round.
