200 Days to the Olympics, Emmanuel Macron Encourages French to Do At Least 30 Minutes of Exercise per Day

With a little over six months to go before the start of the Olympics, the President of the Republic posted a video on Monday on X, with boxing gloves on his shoulder, to promote daily sports activities.

The president, Emmanuel Macron, participates in a work meeting 500 days before the Olympic and Paralympic Games of Paris 2024 at the prefecture of Paris and Île-de-France, on March 14, 2023.

200 days before the start of the Paris 2024 Olympics (July 26-August 11), Emmanuel Macron called on the French “to do at least 30 minutes of sport every day” in a video posted on the social network X. The French President was seen with boxing gloves on his shoulder in front of a punching bag.

“We have a great national cause this year, it’s sports. Sports at school. We’ve made 30 minutes of mandatory sports for all primary school students. We’ve added more sports in secondary school,” he said. “I invite you to do at least 30 minutes of sport every day. I hope more, if you can. At least 30 minutes a day, because it’s good for health. It’s a way to have games that will remain in our daily practices. Long live the Olympic and Paralympic Games,” he added.

The Head of State also recalled that the Olympic Games being prepared in France will be “the most decarbonized in history.” According to him, they will be “Green Games that respect the Paris agreements.” “We will host gender-equal games with as many male athletes as female athletes. We will have delegations of exceptional Olympic and Paralympic athletes with, I hope, many French medals,” he added.

During an appearance on RMC this Sunday, Sports Minister Amélie Oudéa-Castéra insisted: “We will be ready,” as concerns among the French, particularly among the inhabitants of Île-de-France, multiply, whether it be regarding public transport or security. “We must move forward, look at our challenges. I fully understand when we emphasize that there are a number of difficulties in transport,” explained “AOC.” We must be lucid about all of that, aware of our challenges, but we are working extraordinarily hard to be ready when the time comes.” After the Olympic Games, Paris will host the Paralympics from August 28 to September 8.
