Verstappen’s Tip to Red Bull Bosses: Marko vs. Mintzlaff in Formula 1

Formula 1: Verstappen boss Helmut Marko with tip against Red Bull boss Mintzlaff

With the Red Bull team currently dominating the Formula 1 arena, Helmut Marko has taken the opportunity to give a little dig at the new boss of their soccer counterpart, RB Leipzig. In an interview with “Sky”, Marko hinted that Oliver Mintzlaff might have his hands full after their humiliating defeat during the week, stating: “I think Mintzlaff is busy after Manchester anyway.”

While Marko has no problem with Mintzlaff, he does miss the influence of group founder Dietrich Mateschitz in their partnership. Under Mateschitz, Marko was able to do as he pleased, and they had a 30-year relationship that went beyond business. However, since Mateschitz’s passing, Mintzlaff is now the one responsible for the sporting achievements of Leipzig, as well as the Red Bull Formula 1 team.

This change in dynamic has created some tension between the two, with rumors of disagreements and a possible power struggle in the works. Marko recently denied rumors that they are planning to sell AlphaTauri, the Red Bull sister team, which Mintzlaff is believed to be considering.

Marko’s criticisms of Mintzlaff seem harsh, but it is understandable that he misses the influence of Mateschitz, who had a profound knowledge of motorsport, according to Marko. It remains to be seen how Mintzlaff will respond to the comments, but they will have a chance to discuss it in person at the upcoming Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, just as they did at the season opener in Bahrain.
