This is a new format for the Paralympic flame. The organization of Paris 2024 has unveiled the route of the Paralympic relay, which will travel through France from August 25th to 28th, the date of the Paralympic Games ceremony in Paris.

After departing from England, at Stoke Mandeville, the symbolic birthplace of the Paralympic sport, and passing through the Channel Tunnel, the committee has chosen to light twelve Paralympic flames in twelve different French cities to converge towards Paris.

The day before the opening ceremony, on August 27th, all twelve torches will be in Île-de-France, with two in Seine-Marne, two in Yvelines, and three in Val-d’Oise. The remaining five torches will be in the neighboring departments of Paris.

On August 28th, the Paralympic flame will parade through the entire capital, passing through many iconic locations. Its journey will end at Place de la Concorde, where the opening ceremony will take place.

The Paralympic flame route is planned to last for four days, passing through “all the regions of France,” said Tony Estanguet, president of Paris 2024. In total, more than 50 cities will be crossed by the various Paralympic flames during this relay, which “promises to be spectacular,” promised the president of Paris 2024.
