Doumbè’s Explanations after Controversial Stoppage of Fight against Baki

The highly anticipated MMA fight between Cédric Doumbè and Baysangur “Baki” Chamsoudinov was stopped in the third round due to a controversial decision by the referee. Declared defeated, Doumbè explained that he had “a piece of glass or wood” in his foot, which led the referee to stop the fight.

A scenario that no one saw coming. Highly anticipated by MMA fans, the fight between Cédric Doumbè and Baysangur “Baki” Chamsoudinov on Thursday evening at the PFL Europe at the Accor Arena in Paris was stopped during the third round.

The referee decided to end the fight and declare Baki the winner due to an injury to Doumbè’s foot. “We were fighting, I felt a piece of glass or a piece of wood in my toe. I told the referee to remove it and he didn’t want to. Baki told me ‘remove it’ and the referee stopped the fight. I don’t understand why the referee stopped the fight,” Doumbè explained to DAZN.

Both fighters are looking forward to a rematch.

“I put myself in your place, I am disgusted! I wanted to see a crazy fight, not a fight that ends like this,” the former kick-boxing world champion continued. “Make some noise for Baki, it wasn’t his fault. If anyone is to blame, it’s the referee. No, I’m joking,” he concluded, without losing his smile.

After the fight, both Doumbè and Baki announced their intention to schedule a new duel. “Of course I want to do it again. I swear I don’t understand what’s happening. I am very disappointed that it ended like this,” Doumbè assured. “PFL, make sure the fight happens again,” Baki added. “Of course I am ready to do it again, if possible even bigger!” The date is set.
