Demystifying the Art of Understanding: Insights from Markus Völter on software-architektur.tv

software-architektur.tv: How to Understand Almost Anything mit Markus Völter

When building new software systems, software architects are regularly faced with the challenge of comprehensively analyzing and correctly describing the affected domains.

For example, should a software system be created with which physicians can describe drug studies, or tax experts can “program” the entire German tax law – what are the right abstractions and concepts to describe these domains?

The goal of a domain analysis is exactly this: to find the abstractions with which a domain can be described so precisely that the descriptions created with it can be directly executed.

In this issue of software-architektur.tv, Eberhard Wolff talks to Markus Völter, who recently wrote the book “How to Understand Almost Anything” on the subject. The two discuss how to proceed with a domain analysis and why the idea of ”executable business logic” should be pursued at all.
