The Almost Movie Starring Rocket and Groot Instead of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3: The End of an Era

Taking the Marvel Universe by Storm

Tomorrow marks the premiere of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 in cinemas throughout Spain, the final installment of James Gunn’s trilogy within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The movie will bring an end to the journey of the irreverent group of cosmic heroes led by Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) and will also be Gunn’s last work for Marvel before focusing exclusively on the future of the DC Universe.

Diving into Rocket’s Origins

Aside from being the last film in the highly successful Guardians of the Galaxy series, Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 3 also delves into the origins of Rocket, the raccoon voiced by Bradley Cooper. Gunn had planned this since the first film’s release in 2014 and even considered making a “solo” movie with Rocket and Groot instead of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

The Spin-Off that Almost Happened

In an interview with iO9, Gunn explained that the movie’s main plot was initially going to be the backbone of a potential spin-off featuring Rocket and Groot. “Always in a third movie because I thought we had to tell the Peter Quill story first and then get into Rocket’s story. The only question was whether it was going to be a Rocket and Groot movie or it was going to be Guardians 3 because initially, it was going to be a spin-off.”

A Change of Plans

Plans changed, as they often do in the entertainment industry, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 became the movie that fans will be able to enjoy in cinemas starting tomorrow. For those who can’t wait, Hobby Consolas has published a review of the movie on their website.

The end of this era in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is sure to be bittersweet for fans, but the legacy of Guardians of the Galaxy will live on.
