At the age of 92, media mogul Rupert Murdoch is set to marry for the fifth time. The multi-billionaire proposed to 66-year-old Ann Lesley Smith on St. Patrick’s Day and plans to tie the knot this summer. Murdoch admits he was nervous about falling in love again but knew it would be his last time. “It should be anyway. I’m happy,” he tells the New York Post, a US tabloid he owns.
Murdoch, best known for owning Fox News and The Wall Street Journal in the USA, as well as The Sun and The Times in Great Britain, is no stranger to marriage. He was previously married four times to Patricia Booker, Anna Torv, Wendi Deng, and Jerry Hall, who he recently divorced.
The Australian-born media tycoon met Smith, a former police chaplain, at his Moraga winery in California last September, and now plans to split their time between the USA and Great Britain. “We both look forward to spending the second half of our lives together,” says Murdoch.
Despite his conservative media empire, Murdoch did not approve of former US President Donald Trump’s post-2020 election allegations of voter fraud, according to court documents. Fox News, however, provided a large platform for the allegations.
Regardless of his political views, Murdoch’s fifth marriage is set to be forever, as he plans to spend the rest of his life with Smith. As Murdoch admits, he’s never too old to say yes to love once again.
