Max Schautzer Reunites with Cancer Patient Autograph Boy

Max Schautzer: reunion with cancer patient autograph boy

Christian Borgmann, fondly known as “Germany’s bravest boy,” celebrates his 50th birthday, and his childhood idol, Max Schautzer, congratulates him. Borgmann underwent a series of surgeries and chemotherapy treatments, starting from the time he was just ten years old when he was diagnosed with bone cancer. His left leg had to be amputated, and in 1985 he had a metastasis on his lungs that had to be surgically removed. He had another surgery and chemotherapy in 1990 when the second metastasis was discovered.

Despite his ill health, Borgmann’s greatest fortune was his passion for collecting autographs from celebrities. His dream came true when Schautzer invited him to his programs and took him to guests’ dressing rooms, where he met popular stars such as Heino, Udo Jürgens, Rex Gildo, and Ireen Sheer.

Schautzer, who lost contact with Borgmann over time, was delighted to be invited to his milestone birthday. He said, “when we faced each other, there was only joy. We hugged each other.” Borgmann married his wife in 2000, but in 2004, he was diagnosed with bone cancer again, this time in the radius of his right hand.

Borgmann, who has been unemployed since January, is hopeful of finding a new job soon. He is grateful for being alive and for his two children. The reunion between Borgmann and Schautzer was a heartwarming one, where they reminisced about their days together.
