iWork Suite: Apple upgrades support for scalable vector graphics

Apple has released updated versions of its free Office suite, including Pages, Keynote, and Numbers, which are now available across all platforms, including iOS, iPadOS, macOS, and the web version in iCloud. The key update in these versions is the support for scalable vector graphics (SVG) integration in text documents, presentations, and tables. This enables users to have optimal image quality at any size. In addition, Pages now allows users to preserve SVG images when exporting to EPUB format.

Users of Pages can also save SVG images in the shape library for future use in other documents. Another new feature in version 13.1 of Pages is better integration with Apple’s Notes app. Users can now import notes directly from the app into Pages and edit them within the program. The update also includes new templates for annual reports and school documents, as well as total labels for stacked bar charts, column charts, and area charts, which are available in Numbers and Keynote as well.

For iPhone and iPad users, it is now possible to integrate videos in Apple’s ProRes format into documents and presentations. Keynote for Mac also offers improvements in screen sharing of presentations during FaceTime video conferences, making it easier to switch to the presentation window. Pages and Numbers users on iPhone and iPad can now add date and time fields to their documents.

The latest versions of Pages, Keynote, and Numbers are compatible with macOS 12 Monterey (from version 12.3) and iOS and iPadOS 15 (from version 15.4). However, support for macOS 12 and iOS 15 is expected to end in a few months when Apple releases iOS 17 and macOS 13 Ventura. At that point, the minimum requirements for new versions of iWork may be iOS 16 and macOS 13.
