Günther Jauch’s Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? Contestant and His Wife Connect with DAS

Günther Jauch: "Who wants to be a millionaire?" candidate and his wife connects DAS

Günther Jauch caused quite a stir on “Who wants to be a millionaire?” on Monday evening. The moderator believed that his wife Thea and candidate Maximilian Burkhardt had something in common. However, the crucial piece of information was missing. Burkhardt had already earned 64,000 euros when Jauch wanted to show off his special knowledge.

Jauch told his counterpart: “Do you know that my wife and you, I think, have something in common?” The candidate did not know what the moderator was alluding to. Jauch then became more specific and said, “The first celebrity you met in your life was the same celebrity that my wife met for the first time in your life.” But the candidate couldn’t make sense of that either.

Then the TV viewers found out that Burkhardt and Jauch had met before “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?”. At the time, Burkhardt’s father was chairman of the “Society for the German Language”, which awarded Jauch the prize. In the quiz show, however, the moderator had another big name in mind, so the guesswork continued.

The moderator asked, “Which celebrity have you STILL met?” The candidate thought of music legend James Last, whom he had already met in 2004. Jauch, who thought he was on the right track, said, “THIS was also the first celebrity that my wife met.”

As a student, Burkhardt was allowed to give a speech to the then Federal President Johannes Rau in Bellevue Palace. As an award because he had won a competition at school. Now Günther Jauch was really blown away. Impressed, he summarized the guest’s encounters, saying, You gave a speech to Johannes Rau. James Last made the music for it. And then I got the prize from them.

Things were also going great for the single on the quiz show. With only three instead of four jokers, Maximilian Burkhardt won 125,000 euros in the end.
