Michelle Yeoh Makes Oscar History in 2023 for Best Actress

The 95th Academy Awards recently took place in Hollywood, and it was a night filled with historic wins and rainings of golden boys. One big winner of the Oscars 2023 was the action comedy “Everything Everywhere All at Once”, which took home a total of seven awards.

One German film that definitely stood out during the event was the anti-war movie “Nothing New in the West”. While the film did not win Best Film or Best Director, it still managed to make Oscar history by receiving four trophies. This makes it the German film with the most number of awards.

Michelle Yeoh, an actress from Malaysia, also made history during the event as she bagged the award for Best Actress. Yeoh became the first Asian woman to receive the award for her performance in “Everything Everywhere All at Once”.

In her speech, Yeoh encouraged young boys and girls who look like her, saying that her win served as a beacon of hope and opportunity that dreams can indeed come true. She also reminded women not to let anyone tell them they’ve passed their prime.

Aside from Yeoh, there were other notable winners during the event, including Brendan Fraser for Best Leading Actor in “The Whale”, Jamie Lee Curtis and Ke Huy Quan for Best Supporting Actors, and Ruth Carter for Best Costume Design for “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever”.

Overall, the 2023 Academy Awards was a night filled with well-deserved recognition for the best and brightest in the world of filmmaking. From historic wins to unforgettable speeches, this year’s Oscars is definitely one for the books.
