A man in his thirties suspected of killing his 78-year-old mother was arrested on Wednesday in the 9th arrondissement of Paris.
A 37-year-old man was arrested Wednesday morning in an apartment on Milton Street, in the 9th arrondissement of Paris, according to sources, confirming information from Le Parisien. The thirty-something is suspected of strangling and beating his 78-year-old mother to death. Around 6:30 am this morning, he himself called the police to confess his crime, the Paris prosecutor’s office tells us.
“When the officers from the neighborhood police station entered the apartment where the septuagenarian had been living alone for many years, they discovered the suspect with his hands and feet covered in blood. Right away, the man said, ‘I killed my mother, I strangled her and smashed her skull,'” reports Le Parisien. As they progressed through the apartment, the police officers found the victim lying in a pool of blood in her bedroom.
According to our information, the suspect is believed to be suffering from psychiatric problems. He has been placed in custody for “murder.” “The investigation has been entrusted to the first district of the judicial police in order to shed light on the circumstances of the commission of the act and the psychiatric health of the suspect,” emphasizes the prosecutor’s office.
