Aue Coach Dotchev Downplays Team’s Chances Ahead of Meppen Match

Aue coach Dotchev ahead of the Meppen game: "We're not the favourites"

Erzgebirge Aue Struggles After Two Consecutive Losses

Erzgebirge Aue (36 points), a German football club, will be facing a tough match against Meppen (21) after suffering back-to-back defeats in their previous games. The team’s sports director, Matthias Heidrich (44), had high expectations for his team, but two recent losses have left the players, and the sports director, feeling frustrated.

During the team’s last two games, the defense has been unstable, and the offensive has been unable to score goals. The team’s struggles have led to concerns that they could be heading towards a relegation battle if their performance does not improve soon.

The team’s head coach, Pavel Dotchev, is aware of the situation and stated, “Within five days, we destroyed what we had previously laboriously built up. Our last two games remind me of the first half of the season. Apparently, that’s a minor illness here that we have to correct quickly.”

Erzgebirge Aue’s impressive run in the 3rd division, with 22 points from ten games, was brought to a halt abruptly. In their previous match, the team lost 1:3 against 1860 Munich, followed by a 0:3 loss in the Sachsenpokal at the regional league Chemnitzer FC.

The team is now preparing to face SV Meppen, and Dotchev is taking the game seriously by stating, “Every opponent is dangerous for us at the moment. Wednesday showed again that mentality beats quality. I’m far from the fact that we are the favorites in Meppen.”

Aue is hoping to learn from their previous games and get back on track with a win against Meppen.
