Apple Welcomes Top VR Experts to WWDC 2023 Conference

Apple invites well-known VR experts to WWDC 2023

On June 5th, Apple will hold its keynote speech for WWDC 2023 at 7 p.m. German time, during which the tech giant is expected to unveil its first mixed reality headset. The new product is rumored to be called Reality Pro. In the lead-up to the event, Apple has invited a number of well-known virtual reality experts to Cupertino, including VR journalist Ian Hamilton and augmented reality and virtual reality tester Norman Chan.

While this year’s keynote speech will be held in the usual video format for remote viewing, attendees who are invited on-site have the opportunity to examine the new hardware. Access to the invitation is given by lottery, and besides developers, analysts and press representatives will also be in attendance.

Apple’s invitation strategy for this year’s event is reminiscent of its previous product launches. In particular, the tech company’s spring event in 2019 saw many Hollywood insiders and stars come to the presentation of its streaming service, Apple TV+. Similarly, when the first Apple Watch was launched in 2014, Apple invited various fashion journalists to help position the smartwatch as an expensive fashion product.

In addition to virtual reality and augmented reality experts, Apple has reportedly invited a larger pool of invitees than usual for this year’s event. This indicates that the company wants to give the Reality Pro as much attention as possible. It is said that the headset will be of high quality but come with a hefty price tag, rumored to be $3,000 or more. Additionally, the project has been said to be somewhat controversial internally.

As always, Mac & i will be live-tweeting the event to keep readers up to date on the unveiling of Apple’s newest hardware.
