Man transported to hospital after antisemitic attack, alleged assailant on the run

An man wearing a kippa and leaving a synagogue was attacked on Friday, March 1st, in the 20th arrondissement of Paris. The presumed perpetrator fled on foot.

An antisemitic assault took place on Friday, March 1st, around 5:30 pm, in the 20th arrondissement of Paris, a police source informed BFMTV.

According to our information, a man wearing a kippa and leaving a synagogue was insulted as a “dirty Jew”, before being punched and kicked.

The presumed perpetrator fled on foot.

The victim was taken to the hospital.

An “unspeakable act”

Meanwhile, Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin stated on his X account (formerly Twitter) on Saturday, March 2nd, that everything “is being done to find the perpetrator of this unspeakable act”.

According to a note seen by BFMTV on Saturday and disclosed by AFP, the Interior Minister urged prefects to strengthen security measures for the Jewish community, especially around schools and places of worship.

Gérald Darmanin justified his request by the “high level of terrorist threat that continues to weigh on our country” and the “tensions in the Middle East that have sharply increased in recent days”.
