Workshops, conferences, screenings… in Paris-Saclay, 4 days of meetings on mental health

The Paris-Saclay agglomeration in Essonne is organizing a series of events focused on mental health, in support of the Mental Health Information Weeks (SISM) and with the backing of the Ministry of Solidarity and Health. Running until October 21, 2023, these events aim to highlight the importance of mental health and its universality.

This year, the 7th edition of the program is centered around the theme “At every stage of life, my mental health is a right.” The goal is to demonstrate that mental health is just as important as physical health, and that it is relevant to everyone regardless of age, life path, or whether they have a mental health condition or not.

The program includes workshops, conferences, exhibitions, screenings, and meetings that are free and open to the public. These events address various topics such as patients’ rights in mental health, student rights, employment and disability, music and babies, consent, and inclusion. Professionals will facilitate and animate these discussions.

One of the highlights of the program is a welcome gathering on October 14, 2023, at the Radazik café-music in Ulis, followed by a film screening and debate at the Jacques Prévert cinema. The film “un jour tu vieilliras” will be screened to address the issue of isolation among the elderly, and there will be an opportunity to engage in a discussion with the director, Edouard Carrion.

On October 16, 2023, an open house event will be held at the Sesame – Foundation des Amis de l’Atelier residential facility in Orsay to inform and introduce people to the establishment. Two days later, on October 18, theater workshops will be conducted at the Simone Veil Recreation Center in Gometz-le-Châtel to sensitize and inform children about mental health. This will be an opportunity for them to express themselves, verbally bringing to light any experiences that may have caused stress, anxiety, fear, or isolation.

A conference on parental burnout, specifically targeted at parents of children aged 0 to 18, will take place on October 19 at the Gometz-le-Châtel community hall. The conference will be led by Florence Bezard, a relational coach. Lastly, on October 21, a prevention day will be held at the Ehpad Les Chênes Verts in Gif-sur-Yvette, featuring various well-being workshops in the afternoon, as well as a roundtable discussion on the themes of “breaking isolation” and “preserving mental and emotional health.”

These Mental Health Information Weeks will conclude with an exhibition of artworks from the cultural workshop of Barthélémy Durand, open for viewing at the Gometz-le-Châtel media library from 10 am to 5 pm. The aim of these events is to promote mental well-being, enabling individuals to feel good about themselves, experience new things, overcome daily challenges, and contribute to society. The agglomeration emphasizes that these initiatives help prevent and reduce social health inequalities.
