Why Paris-Nice 2024 will pass through this town on the Côte d’Azur twice

The sixth stage, from Sisteron to La Colle-sur-Loup, will take place on Friday, March 8th. The peloton will cross the finish line two times, set in front of the Émilie Fer gymnasium, and will tackle the tough climb of L’Avencq. The municipality wants to ensure that everything possible is done to strengthen La Colle’s dynamic image during this legendary event, which will be watched live by millions of viewers worldwide.
Everything was ready in 2023
In addition, it will also be International Women’s Day. A photo exhibition will showcase the greatest female athletes in all sports on Place De-Gaulle. And in the evening, at 8:30 p.m., at the Rose-de-Mai hall, Gérard Holtz will be the star of the show with his conference-show: Long live Sport!
Why this special treatment? In 2023, everything was ready to host the finish of a stage. Except that the weather had other plans: due to very strong gusts of wind, the organizers simply canceled it. Disappointed, the elected officials and the tourist office quickly regained hope of seeing the race pass through the gorges of the Loup in 2024, as the organizer immediately committed to it, relying “on the relationship of trust between the parties,” as recounted by the city council.
