Our favorite: Restaurant 404 in Paris and its amazing couscous!

Looking for a one-way ticket to Marrakesh? Head to Rue des Gravilliers, in the 3rd arrondissement of Paris. In the heart of Le Marais, we immerse ourselves in a mansion with the look of a kasbah. In a decor straight out of the One Thousand and One Nights, the immersion is complete. With a dimly lit atmosphere, Oriental carpets, beautiful Moroccan lanterns made of wrought iron, warm colors… the ambiance transports us elsewhere. Here, we taste traditional Moroccan cuisine. On the menu? Sunny salads, pastillas, kefta skewers, or a homemade Méchoui with herbs.

The 404 also offers a wide range of tagines and couscous. Chicken tagine with pears, lamb shank/apricot tagine, Berber lamb tagine, Berber couscous, 7-vegetable couscous, merguez, méchoui… The choice is difficult. And the flavors are indeed present in the plate. To end our Oriental journey beautifully, we enjoy an orange salad with cinnamon and orange blossom, a Berber pancake with honey, a date pastilla, or gazelle horns… all accompanied by a fragrant mint tea. A favorite!

The inclusive oriental restaurant “1000 & 1 Signes”

In the famous Rue de Charonne is a place with an extra touch of soul. This place is called 1000 & 1 Signes. In this restaurant open to the deaf and hearing, you can indulge your senses with delicious Moroccan specialties, such as tagines, couscous, pastillas, Berber pancakes, and other fragrant Oriental dishes. You also have the opportunity to open yourself up to a different world than your own. On the menu, each dish corresponds to a sign in French Sign Language (LSF). This establishment is run by the radiant and bright Sid, who is also deaf. 1000 & 1 Signes represents 1000 & 1 nuances of delights, love, and sharing.

The most festive: The Parisian restaurant “Chez Gala” where you can eat mouthwatering tagines

It is one of the most beautiful festive restaurants in Paris: Chez Gala! At Paris Secret, we had the chance to enter this enchanting establishment with an ambiance from the One Thousand and One Nights. Nestled in velvet, served like kings, Chez Gala took us on a journey from the appetizer to the dessert. Chicken pastilla, hummus, confit lamb shoulder… The Oriental scents enchant the senses. A big favorite for the glazed vegetable tagine in their juice with spices. Located in the very chic 8th arrondissement of Paris: pleasure for the eyes and sunshine on the plate are on the menu.

The excellent “Bladi” couscous bar, Paris

Last October, Bladi, the first couscous bar where you can create the couscous of your dreams, opened in the 11th arrondissement of Paris. First, let’s talk about size. (Yes, sometimes it matters). Medium or large couscous? It’s up to you depending on your appetite. Merguez, chicken, beef, lamb, kefta meatballs… Choose the meat of your choice. We warn you, they are all buttery soft. Then, it’s time to choose your vegetables and legumes. Carrots, zucchini, chickpeas, raisins, and onions… you have the royal choice! All that’s left is to drizzle your divine couscous with an Oriental-scented juice, on a bed of semolina. Tested and approved by the Paris Secret team.

The iconic “La Ruche à Miel”, just steps away from the Aligre Market

If you are passing by the Aligre Market, in the 12th arrondissement, we highly recommend stopping at La Ruche à Miel. In this cozy little restaurant-tea room, many celebrities have left their mark. And for good reason: you can enjoy mouthwatering tagines and couscous, either eat-in or take-out. Special mention for the wonderful showcase of Oriental pastries, each one more delicious than the next. The best part? You will always be greeted with a big smile! Human warmth and Moroccan conviviality guaranteed!
