15,000 people marched in Paris this Sunday, according to police prefecture.

According to the prefecture of police of Paris, around 15,000 people gathered in the capital on Sunday, October 22, to show their support for Palestine.

More than 15,000 protesters gathered in Paris on Sunday, according to the prefecture of police, to demand an end to Israel’s military operations in Gaza, at the call of a collective that includes left-wing organizations.

The LFI (La France Insoumise) MP Aurélie Trouvé reported more than 30,000 participants at the rally. The prefecture, on the other hand, did not report any incidents during the gathering.

“Israel assassin, Macron accomplice”, “no peace without decolonization”: the participants in this gathering held at Place de la République multiplied pro-Palestinian slogans, on the occasion of this first Parisian protest to not have initially been banned by the prefecture of police of Paris.

The collective “For a just and lasting peace between Palestinians and Israelis,” which initiated the gathering, deployed a banner at the foot of the statue of the Republic, calling on France to “demand an immediate ceasefire” and “stop the massacre in Gaza.”

“You don’t have to be Palestinian to be affected by what is happening. For me, this kind of gathering is a sign of despair,” said Maya, a student who attended the protest with friends and who did not wish to reveal her last name.

During the rally, a speaker called for a new mobilization next Saturday. The CGT, FSU, La France Insoumise, Solidaires union, France-Palestine-Solidarity association, MRAP, the collective of Muslims of France, and the French Union of Jewish Students for Peace are among the forty member organizations of the collective.
