Union Berlin’s 2-0 Victory Over Frankfurt Leaves Götze Frustrated in Bundesliga Clash

Bundesliga: Union Berlin - Frankfurt 2:0! Union causes Götze frustration

Union Berlin Extend Lead Over Frankfurt with a 2-0 Victory

Union Berlin has continued their dream run towards the Champions League by defeating Eintracht Frankfurt 2-0 at home. The win also extends their lead over the Frankfurt club by eight points.

Midfield driver Rani Khedira opened the scoring in the 53rd minute with his first goal for the club. The ball fell to him after a Union corner, and he made no mistake in finding the back of the net.

Khedira’s older brother and world champion, Sami Khedira, was in attendance and celebrated the goal as if he had scored it himself.

Despite having the better players, Eintracht Frankfurt failed to convert their chances. Kamada missed a close-range effort in the 34th minute, and Kolo Muani headed over the goal from five meters.

Union Berlin, on the other hand, were clinical with their chances. Kevin Behrens sealed the victory in the 75th minute by claiming a long ball, rounding Frankfurt defender Smolcic, and tunneling the national goalkeeper.

Mario Götze, who was rarely seen during the match, attracted attention in the first half with a grumbling attack against referee Dingert. He was substituted in the 82nd minute and took a seat on the bench in frustration.

The defeat is a major setback for Eintracht Frankfurt’s hopes of qualifying for the Champions League, as they have now gone four league games without a win. Union Berlin, however, continue to dream of making it into Europe’s top club competition.
