Uncommitted Young Prussians: The Unstoppable Bindemann

Young Prussians without commitment: Bindemann can hardly be stopped like this

The disappointment of head coach Sascha Hildmann was palpable when he made his final change during the Lippstadt vs Münster match on Saturday. Deniz Bindemann (20) was frustrated when he saw that he was not going to be a part of the game once again. He pulled off his shirt and threw it on the bench before sitting on it. Although being a part of U23s was great, it was not what Bindemann wanted, as he wanted to assert himself with the pros this season.

Last year, he had done well with the pros, having scored five goals in the five times that he was in the starting XI, and was substituted on 19 other times. The current record, however, is not satisfying to Bindemann, with only four short appearances and one time in the starting XI out of 14 times without use in the squad. With 196 minutes of play, he is experiencing a downward instead of upward development, something that is not making him happy.

His contract with the Black and White Greens ends in the summer, and he is available for a free transfer. This has made other clubs approach him, with many inquiries even before the winter break for the “homegrown product.” Bindemann’s advisor confirms that talks are already underway, but he needs a sporting perspective. Münster’s sports director, Peter Niemeyer (39), assures Binder that he will do everything to extend his contract.

However, this did not happen during the Lippstadt game, as Hildmann brought a defensive player in for the final spurt. The coach later commented that they have 25 players in the squad who all deserve to play, but he had to decide on what makes the most sense at the moment. Bindemann will also have his chances, just like in the first game of this year, when he got involved from the start after a convincing winter preparation against Alemannia Aachen (4:0).

The newly elected President of regional league leaders Prussia Münster, Dr. Bernward Maasjost (65), gave an insight into how he imagines the future of his eagle bearers in the first episode of Prussia private, the new podcast that starts on Tuesday. Among other things, Maasjost revealed in which sport he was once successful. The podcast is available at “www.preussenprivat.de” or wherever podcasts can be found.
