Title: Violent brawl at Paris-Charles-de-Gaulle airport: Protesters attempt to prevent the expulsion of Kurdish man under OQTF

A violent brawl erupted in a hall at Paris-Charles-de-Gaulle airport on Wednesday, March 27. The cause of the altercation was an attempt to prevent the expulsion of a Kurdish man under an OQTF.

Scenes of chaos unfolded in the airport. According to Europe 1, a group of people confronted a convoy transporting a Kurdish activist facing deportation from France at Paris-Charles-de-Gaulle airport on March 27.

Videos posted online showed dozens of people fighting and exchanging blows. The National Removal Unit (Unesi) was targeted during the incident. Eventually, the calm was restored by members of the Sentinel military unit in front of shocked tourists.

An investigation has been opened, but no arrests were made during the incident. The confrontation took place in the public area of Terminal 1 at the airport. Those opposing the deportation tried to bypass security checkpoints to reach a restricted zone that requires a boarding pass. According to Europe 1, some Communist politicians were present to prevent the deportation.

The reason for the opposition to the deportation was the fear that Firaz Korkmaz would face torture and imprisonment upon his return to Turkey. The incidents resulted in minor injuries to three airport agents. An investigation was launched, but no arrests had been made by the end of Wednesday. The man was eventually deported.
