Tina Rupprecht: The Hopeful Boxer

Boxing hope Tina Rupprecht: When the man behind "Tiny Tina" has nothing to say

Love is when your partner supports you through thick and thin, even if it involves wearing your world championship belt to the boxing ring. This is Markus Fritschi, the partner of world champion Tina Rupprecht, who won the title fight against Seniesa Estrada in Fresno, USA on Sunday.

Markus, who is 25 centimeters taller than the 1.52-meter-tall Tina, is a teacher and entrepreneur with a fitness video company called “Gettoworkout.” When asked how it feels to be with a boxer, Markus claims that it’s fascinating to tell others that his girlfriend is a boxing world champion.

Markus and Tina first met at a network meeting in June 2019, where talents came into contact with managers. Markus liked Tina’s charisma and was surprised to learn that she was a boxer. When the moderator asked Tina to stand up, everyone thought she would be a swimmer. No one guessed that she was a boxer.

Markus usually sits in the front row while watching Tina’s fights, but this time in the USA, he was in her corner for the first time. Despite his initial doubts, Markus has grown more relaxed with each fight, and he feels like he’s in the ring with her.

Asked if he’s afraid of Tina getting hit, Markus says that she rarely gets hit. He admires her mental strength, saying that she never gets distracted and always maintains focus.

As for their domestic life, Markus reveals that he’s more of a sucker and takes out the rubbish and used glass, while Tina does the finishing touches, decorates the house, and cooks. He says that Tina is in attack mode in the ring, but at home, she is very relaxed.

In addition, Markus and Tina have an allotment garden where she spends hours tending to the flowers. So, indeed, love is about supporting your partner through highs and lows, both in and out of the ring.
