Chemie Leipzig’s Kirstein Takes Three-Month Break: Here’s Why

Chemie Leipzig: That's why Kirstein took three months off

Football player Florian Kirstein from Chemie Leipzig recently took a three-month break with his wife to travel through New Zealand and Australia. For him, it was a chance to take control of his own time and relax from the constant pressure of football, school, training, studies, and work.

During their trip, the couple bought a used Mazda MPV which they used to travel and sleep in. They planned their hiking routes and went on breathtaking walks, admiring places such as the Tongariro volcano from the movie “Lord of the Rings.”

One of the toughest moments during the trip was Christmas, which is not celebrated until December 25th in New Zealand. The couple treated themselves to a nice meal and a massage to mark the holiday.

Now back at Chemie, Kirstein is excited to be back with the team and getting more game time. He has a training program that he took with him during his break and it provided him with a good basis for his fitness. While he didn’t have a ball with him, he is hopeful that he will soon get back on the pitch and be able to contribute to the team’s success.
