The Week’s Pictures: From Minimalist to Detailed

From minimalist to detailed: the pictures of the week (week 27)

The pictures of the week may seem different at first glance, but they all share a common characteristic – they invite you to take a second look. Rüdiger Linse’s picture of the day captures the bold colors and intricate details of an echinacea blossom, which is a captivating sight. Upon closer inspection, you can even spot finely spun nets and small visitors on the petals.

On Sunday, Joachim Kopatzki’s image of a roof mosaic in the old town of Gubio confuses viewers initially. The photograph was taken from a cable car, providing an aerial view of the sand-colored houses. Kopatzki later used Photoshop to create a mosaic effect, enhancing the optical appeal and detail.

Thomas Ruppel’s portrait of a naked woman stands out with the model’s direct gaze. The scene was captured in a daylight studio, with the addition of a Rotolight Aeos 2 to enhance the lighting. Ruppel used a Nikon Z9 camera with an 85mm/1.4 lens to capture the shot.

Tuesday’s image by Uschi Hermann portrays a misty bathhouse, evoking a mystical atmosphere. The footbridge to the house seems to lead nowhere, reminiscent of a scene from a haunting movie.

Horst Lesch’s graphic image, composed of colorful horizontal stripes, captivated the editors. Lesch shares that it is a section of the outside wall of a tool shed. The gray sky provides a natural and reserved background for the vibrant colors.

Thursday’s picture by Karl Hotz-Thelen showcases the smooth glass facade of a high-rise building in black and white. The diagonal lines in the image draw the viewer’s eye up, emphasizing the drama and sharp edges of the photograph.

Wrapping up the week, photographer peter_sw captures the intricate details of a sage leaf in nature. Using an Olympus E-M1X, M.Zuiko 90 mm macro lens, and a 1.4x converter, he managed to stack 45 photos to capture the entire depth of focus. peter_sw finds the charming details and meditative calm of the image remarkable.
