The LFP announces exceptional rescheduling of Paris, Marseille, and Lille matches in the 29th round

Three clubs still involved in European competitions have been offered a rescheduling of their 29th round Ligue 1 match in order to best prepare for their quarter-finals. France Télévisions – Sports Editorial Published on 21/03/2024 21:18 Reading time: 1 min. Twenty years after Monaco, Bordeaux, and Marseille, France finally has three representatives in the quarter-finals of a European Cup. Faced with this historical situation, the LFP decided on Thursday, March 21, to change the scheduling of the 29th round of Ligue 1, which will precede the first leg of the quarter-finals. While the other six Ligue 1 matches will take place on the weekend of April 13-14, the matches between Lorient and Paris as well as Monaco and Lille will be held on Wednesday, April 24 at 19:00, two hours before the Marseille vs Nice game. “The journey of French clubs in European Cups is an absolute priority. Every point scored is crucial for France’s UEFA coefficient. Football is a national emblem and, through the clubs’ performances at the European level, it helps to shine a spotlight on France internationally,” justified the LFP via the Ligue 1 website. The three clubs involved will thus have ten days to prepare for their European quarter-finals. Paris will face FC Barcelona, Marseille will be up against Benfica, and Lille will challenge Aston Villa.
