Striker Ahmet Arslan Struggles in Dynamo Dresden’s Hard-Fought 3rd Division Campaign

Dynamo Dresden: Hard time for striker Ahmet Arslan in the 3rd division!

Dynamo on course for the second division!

After the 3:2 victory in Ingolstadt, the team of coach Markus Anfang is in third place for the first time this season. The black and yellow series is slowly getting scary: unbeaten for 12 games, four wins in a row.

What is the secret behind this run? “In addition to a lot of work, above all the fun,” explains top scorer Ahmet Arslan (28), who scored his 16th goal of the season with FCI. “Football just really gets us going.”

“I’m already looking forward to the next unit. That wasn’t always the case in the first half of the season, if I’m honest. The people who play themselves probably don’t buy that either. But that’s how it is.

The challenge of Ramadan

From Wednesday, however, an additional challenge awaits Muslims: the fasting month of Ramadan. You are not allowed to eat or drink between sunrise and sunset. And right in the middle of the fight for promotion!

Eating and drinking are taboo during the day. No problem for Arslan: I’m in constant contact with our medical department. I actually feel better during that time, get up early and scoop everything I need for the day.

Keeping focused

Does Ahmo at least take a look at the table? It would be a lie to say we look not even on it in the dressing room,” admits Arslan. However, the German-Turk says immediately afterwards: “We know how football works and how quickly you can slip again because there are just so many teams involved. That’s why we’re just playing the way it is now, just don’t worry about it.”

The future of Arslan

Arslan is very comfortable with that about his future. Although Dynamo has a purchase option for the Kiel loan, he keeps himself covered on the subject. “The constellation is clear,” he simply explains. “I think Dynamo enjoys me. And I enjoy the club. But I’m a player on loan. There are still things that need to be clarified. You can see that I’m in the mood for Dynamo.”
