European League: Gidsel shoots foxes at home to victory

Handball Foxes remain Undefeated in Europe

The Handball Foxes have won their eleventh game in a row, remaining undefeated in Europe. They defeated Skjern Handbold 28:23 (14:11) in the round of 16 first leg of the European League, in front of 3,300 fans.

The Berliners came into play well, quickly leading by six goals (9:3/15.). But in the 2nd half, the Foxes took it too easy, and there was no goal for eight minutes between the 33rd and 41st minutes (17:15).

Mathias Gidsel – The Man of the Evening

Mathias Gidsel, Foxes star, was the man of the evening. He says, “We got into the game very well, unfortunately the second half was a bit difficult, but we’ll take a five-goal lead to Berlin.”

Gidsel is currently the best-left-hander in the world. He throws seven goals into the net. In the end, however, the Foxes’ best thrower is Robert Weber (37) with nine goals.

A Secure Victory for the Foxes

The Danes even managed to equalize in the 50th minute – 22:22. But Gidsel and Weber still lead the Berliners to a secure victory with their goals.

The second leg in this first Euro knockout round takes place on Tuesday (March 28, 8:45 p.m.) in the Max-Schmeling-Halle.
