Storm Ciaran in Paris: gusts up to 141 km/h recorded at the top of the Eiffel Tower

The storm Ciaran blew through the skies of Paris last night. According to Météo France, gusts reached 141 km/h at the top of the Eiffel Tower, during the night of Wednesday, November 1st to Thursday, November 2nd, 2023. In 1999, during the storm Lothar, they had exceeded 215 km/h.

Since Wednesday, November 1st, Paris and its surrounding suburbs were placed on orange alert for strong winds. In Seine-Saint-Denis, the gusts reached nearly 100 km/h with a peak of 97 km/h recorded near Roissy Charles-de-Gaulle airport.

At 6 am, Météo France lifted the orange alert, but maintained the Île-de-France region on yellow alert. According to the Paris firefighters, there have been no notable interventions to report this Thursday morning in Paris and its neighboring departments.

The storm Ciaran is expected to continue sweeping through the capital on Thursday. Gusts, ranging between 60 and 80 km/h, are still expected in the afternoon. The alert should be definitively lifted at 6 pm.
