Scandalized by the ultraright protest in Paris – Gérald Darmanin

The Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin said that he was “scandalized by the demonstration in Paris” at the Pantheon, where a gathering was held on Friday night at the call of an ultraright group, in homage to the young Thomas killed during a village party in the Drôme.

“I am scandalized by the demonstration in Paris. The Paris Police Prefect had it prohibited, the justice has authorized it,” reacted the Interior Minister at the Assembly, at the very end of the examination of the immigration bill in commission.

An intelligence note, dated early in the week, sounded the alarm about an unprecedented mobilization of extreme right and ultraright groups, two weeks after Thomas’ death. In recent weeks, similar gatherings had led to clashes, injuries, and arrests in Romans-sur-Isère (Drôme) and Lyon.
