Prussia’s Surrender to Rambo: Remberg Renamed Kiel

Remberg change to Kiel: Prussia conceded for Rambo

Four years ago, the “Black-White-Greens” team acquired a promising young talent in Cyrill Akono, who was sold to the U23s by Bundesliga club Mainz 05. This transfer brought around 300,000 euros, which was crucial to saving the financially weak third division team’s license. Today, the next “homegrown” talent is on the way: Nicolai “Rambo” Remberg of Munster, a tireless midfielder. The 22-year-old has already agreed to join second division club Holstein Kiel, although a fixed transfer fee has not yet been announced.

Remberg’s original contract with Munster ran until 2024, so a fixed transfer fee will be due. While it may not be as high as the Akono transfer fee, it is expected to be in the six-digit range, between 100,000 and 130,000 euros. This is a considerable sum, especially as Remberg would not have cost Munster anything after the next season. The transfer fee flushes some much-needed money into Munster’s cash register, which will need to be reinvested to build a new, powerful team, especially if Munster is to achieve its big dream of promotion.

Munster currently sits in first place with an eleven-point lead over its pursuers, Gladbach II. With Remberg now gone, Munster’s sporting director, Peter Niemeyer, will need to find a replacement. To adequately replace Remberg, one of the top performers on the team, Niemeyer will probably need to invest in experienced third division professionals, such as René Klingenburg, the last Lautern player, or others on Munster’s list of interesting players.

The team must now focus on its upcoming match against Schalke II on Saturday, without regular goalkeeper Max Schulze Niehues, who tested positive for Corona on Wednesday, and Simon Scherder, who has muscle problems in the thigh. However, Thorben Deters and Manfred Manni Kwadwo may return to the matchday squad for the first time after long recovery breaks.

Despite Remberg leaving, more than 7,000 tickets have already been sold for Saturday’s match, and the stadium on Hammer Strasse will be full once again. Munster fans are excited to see Remberg back on the ball and “next man” Dennis Grote returning after a yellow card suspension. With 22 league appearances this season, six goals, and one assist, Remberg has the highest market value of any player in the West Regional League, according to transfermarkt.de. In the meantime, Holstein Kiel has also reported its acquisition of Munster’s “mentality monster” as a new signing for the next season.
