Prohibition of Sunday Car Gatherings by Paris Police Prefecture

A setback for motorists. In a decree issued on Saturday, January 20, 2024, the Paris Police Prefecture decided to ban car gatherings on Sundays, January 21, and 28 between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Prohibited for the next two Sundays

To justify its decision, the Police Prefecture explains that “gatherings of sports and vintage vehicles of category M cause disturbances to public safety, including violating speed limits and endangering the safety of cyclists and pedestrians.”

That’s not all, the authority also believes that “these gatherings ‘affect the tranquility, safety, or health of pedestrians and residents.”

In its decree, the Police Prefecture specifically targets the Vauban gathering, which takes place every Sunday in the 7th arrondissement of Paris. For the next two Sundays, the targeted vehicles are banned on Place Vauban, Avenue de Ségur, and Avenue de Breteuil.
