The 800 athletes of the French Olympic and Paralympic team will unveil the outfits on Tuesday, January 16 in the evening, but franceinfo was able to discover them exclusively at the Le Coq Sportif factory in Romilly-sur-Seine (Aube) which manufactures them. The sports brand had not been present at the Summer Olympics since 1972.

The collection that the athletes will wear at the Olympic Village is off-white and will feature a common logo: a rooster on a blue, white and red background that will have a gradient effect for the first time, as explained by Ewa Samson, the brand development manager: “We wanted to transform the French flag into something mixed. The flag is for everyone, for those with white, tanned, or different colored skin. We are all together, one family”.

The real innovation for the brand is the production of competition outfits. For example, kimonos for judo or leotards for gymnastics. Last week, Ewa Samson approved tank tops for climbing: “The product should not be a hindrance, it should be light and not stick to the wall. Each discipline requires specific knowledge.”

In total, 54 federations collaborate with Le Coq Sportif. According to its general manager David Pecard, the brand gains years of expertise: “I don’t believe the three largest global brands make all the sports products. I think we will be the only ones and that we have intangible value in the company”.

On site, 1,060 models are made for 1.3 million copies. Only these technical outfits are not made entirely in France, as some phases are processed in Morocco or Portugal.
