Paris: Anne Hidalgo Awarded the Visionaries of Urban Development Prize

The Urban Land Institute announced on Thursday, December 14, that the “visionaries of urban development” award had been given to Anne Hidalgo, as reported by BFMTV. This award is the “most prestigious and respected honor in the global community of land use and development,” explained Urban Land Institute.

The mayor of Paris is being honored for her “leadership” that has made Paris a “healthier, more inclusive, and more enjoyable city to live in.” Urban Land Institute is a global non-profit research and education organization that aims to help its members and their partners build more equitable, sustainable, healthy, and resilient communities.

The American association highlighted Anne Hidalgo’s actions, which have successfully “transformed the way other cities envision the possibilities of the future.” Urban Land Institute justified its choice by the “socially mixed” aspect of the city’s housing policy, the reduction of carbon emissions, and the creation of green spaces.

The organization also highlighted the low-emission zones and the reduction of “Parisians’ dependence on cars” introduced by the mayor of Paris. Therefore, on behalf of “associations that help people in need,” Anne Hidalgo will receive the sum of 100,000 dollars (91,690 euros). The mayor said she was “deeply honored” to our colleagues, highlighting the “collective efforts that propelled Paris towards a more inclusive, resilient, and sustainable urban landscape.”
