Paris and Asvel join Monaco at the top of the Betclic Elite

Le Paris Basketball continues its strong start to the season. After two big wins against Dijon and Saint-Quentin, the capital club repeated the feat on Wednesday in the third day of Betclic Elite, crushing Le Mans (112-71) at home. The Parisians were already leading 36-17 at the end of the first quarter and added to their lead in the final 10 minutes, outscoring their opponents 32-19. American player T.J. Shorts, who arrived this summer from Bonn (Germany), was the main architect of Paris’ victory with 25 points.

At the same time, Asvel inflicted an equally impressive correction on Le Portel (101-66), punishing them in front of their home crowd. Villeurbanne was comfortably ahead at halftime (58-36) and didn’t let up thereafter. Franck Jackson scored 22 points for them. On the Le Portel side, Bastien Vautier also scored 22 points.

Meanwhile, Boulogne-Levallois seems to be unable to stop losing. Already dominated by Saint-Quentin and Bourg-en-Bresse, this time they fell to Limoges (90-67). At halftime, the Franciliens were actually in front (38-30), but they conceded a brutal 31-11 in the third quarter.

Tevin Brown’s 25 points couldn’t secure a win for Boulogne-Levallois. On the Limoges side, the collective effort paid off, with Nemanja Nenadic (17 points), Kameron McGusty (14 pts), Simisola Shittu (14), Nicolas Lang (11), and Lucas Beaufort (10).

Earlier in the evening, in a match between two low-ranked teams, Chalon-sur-Saône, the promoted team, won against Gravelines-Dunkerque (83-81), led by the 23 points of Slovenian player Aleksej Nikolic, thus securing their first victory of the season. Since the start of the Championship, four teams have yet to win in Betclic Elite: Dijon, Gravelines-Dunkerque, Boulogne-Levallois, and Le Portel.
