Jocelyn Gourvennec is now the coach of FC Nantes, and he has made a grand return to the Canaries. He played for Nantes during his career as a player, joining the team in 1995 from Rennes. He had the opportunity to transfer to PSG, but he chose Nantes instead.
Before becoming a coach, Jocelyn Gourvennec played for various clubs including OM, FC Nantes, Rennes, Lorient, and Montpellier, but never for PSG. In an interview, he revealed that he had the chance to join PSG but decided to go to Nantes instead.
In an interview with FC Nantes media, Jocelyn Gourvennec explained his decision. He said, “My arrival in Nantes in 1995? I was in Rennes and Rennes needed to sell. I only had one year left on my contract, and I was the captain. I thought I would continue at Rennes as a young player. The club needed to sell, and at that time, there was PSG and Nantes.”
He also added, “I want to go to Nantes to play in the Champions League. I took my phone to call Paris and say that I didn’t want to come. I wanted to go to Nantes.” Gourvennec’s love for Nantes and desire to play in the Champions League influenced his decision to join the club.
