Mobile Monitors bring convenience to people who need to work while traveling. With Monduo’s plug-in device, you can add two 16-inch screens to your MacBook Pro 16″ or Windows laptop of corresponding dimensions. The device comes with a thick plastic housing that clamps in place to ensure stability. You get a width of 1.15 meters when you fold open the housing and count the built-in screens.
To prevent the notebook from tipping over with the attached 16″ Pro Duo display, which weighs approximately two kilograms, you can fold out a foot. However, assembly can be a bit awkward, and the spring mechanism for clamping may catch a bit. Additionally, the 16-inch Pro Duo display may leave fine traces of abrasion on your laptop, but these can be rubbed away.
Each of the two displays has three USB-C sockets and a mini HDMI port and must connect directly to your MacBook. Power and data flow simultaneously via USB-C. If you use HDMI, the Monduo 16 Inch Pro Duo Display still needs power separately. It works in normal operation mode, even if you operate the notebook on the battery. You can configure the resolution, color profile, and refresh rate (up to 120 Hertz) in the system settings without additional software. Monduo offers an app and additional drivers that activate a HiDPI mode. You can control the brightness of the displays via software and switch synchronously with that of the MacBook display. Monduo wants to supply the corresponding software for Windows laptops.
The two matte IPS panels cover not only sRGB but also the extended color space DCI- P3 completely, which measurements confirm. Although the Monduo dual-display system has a bluish tint when viewed from an off-center angle, it remains unnoticeable to the user. The Monduo 16-inch Pro Duo Display costs around €750.
In conclusion, compared to other similar double displays, Monduo’s folding display is ideal for those who need more workspace on the go, such as DJs in clubs or video cutters on film projects. It’s not much larger than the MacBook itself and about twice as thick. However, the processing quality of the device could be improved.
