Merciless Paris SG Dominates Chartres in Starligue Season Opener

Last Friday, February 9th, CCMHB was quickly overtaken by the rapid pace of the French champion, at Coubertin, for the resumption of the Starligue (44-30).

The return to the championship turned out to be quite brutal for the Chartres, who were shaken in all directions by the Paris leader after six weeks of truce. The Eurelians had little hope about the outcome of the evening, given the significant difference in status and level between the two teams. The team would have certainly liked to show something else on the Coubertin court, where they suffered a lot in the first period before finally managing to stop the damage a little (44-30).

The first three minutes set the tone for the disastrous evening as Paris was already leading 5-0. Immediately, Nebojsa Stojinovic called for a timeout and changed four players in his starting team. Although the entry of Yassine Ben Salem, who performed a fantastic match (8/9), brought a real offensive advantage, it did not prevent Paris from soaring to score, accelerating all the balls under the leadership of Luc Steins.

Unable to keep up with the Parisian’s rapid pace, the CCMHB left many breaches in defense and was punished. After fifteen minutes, there was already a ten-goal difference (16-6), and the score at halftime was a little worrying (27-14), with the Danish player Jacob Holm taking a credit of 9/10.

The intensity logically decreased a little in the second half, with PSG more focused on management. The Chartrains then managed to stabilize the score, thanks in particular to seven goals from former Parisian, Valentin Bzdynga. But the French champion, with its fresh European champions, Elohim Prandi and Nikola Karabatic, did not completely loosen the grip. In the end, the score stung: 44-30.
