Mbappé at the Paris 2024 Olympics? Diallo continues his pressing

Philippe Diallo, President of the French Football Federation (FFF), does not rule out the possibility of Kylian Mbappé being present at the 2024 Paris Olympics with the French team.

Will Kylian Mbappé take part in the 2024 Paris Olympics with the French team? With nine months to go until the opening ceremony (July 26), this question was posed to Philippe Diallo, the President of the French Football Federation (FFF), by Le Parisien. “It is our duty, at the FFF, to do everything possible to have the best players,” responded the leader. This response does not clarify anything, but it does suggest that the organization would like to be able to count on the 2018 World Cup champion.

Because the men’s football tournament (July 24-August 10) at the Olympics is not on FIFA’s calendar, clubs are not obliged to release their players. However, Philippe Diallo assures that he has received messages from presidents who have said, “You can count on us.”

“The presidents are or will be convinced that they are participating in a mission of general interest to support our national team and ensure that it gets at least one medal,” he added.

Mbappé in April: “I hope to be there”

Kylian Mbappé, whose contract with Paris Saint-Germain expires on June 30, has expressed his desire to participate in the event several times. This is despite the Euro 2024, with the final scheduled for July 14. “I hope to be there,” he declared last April. “Everyone knows that I have always dreamed of playing in the Olympics. However, it does not depend on me, there are several factors that come into play.”

If called up by Thierry Henry, coach of the youth team and in charge of the Olympic team, Kylian Mbappé will occupy one of the three places in the squad that can be filled by players over the age of 23.
