Maximizing Munich’s Monetary Gains: The Potential of Signing Julian Nagelsmann for FC Bayern!

FC Bayern: How Munich can still cash in with Julian Nagelsmann!

Will Bayern get anything back from the high transfer fee?

Bayern Munich recently released their young coach Julian Nagelsmann (35) from his contract, which was set to run until 2026. Nagelsmann was brought in for a high transfer fee of 20 million euros (excluding success bonuses) in the summer of 2021. He managed to win a championship and two DFL Supercup victories during his 21-month tenure with the German Bundesliga giants. However, the team’s bosses, Oliver Kahn (53) and Hasan Salihamidzic (46), decided to end the long-term project with the coach, much to the surprise of fans and critics alike.

Nagelsmann dismissal: These are the real reasons

The reasons behind Nagelsmann’s abrupt dismissal remain a mystery to the public. But rumors have suggested that he may be a candidate for other high-profile coaching jobs, such as Tottenham or Real Madrid, as reported by the English newspaper, “The Guardian” and the Spanish newspaper, “Mundo Deportivo”. Carlo Ancelotti (63), the ex-Bayern coach (trainer in Munich from 2016 to September 2017), is another rumored candidate for the job.

How Bayern can still cash in with Nagelsmann

Should Nagelsmann be hired by Tottenham or Real Madrid before the summer, Bayern would still be able to collect some of the 20 million euros that they had paid for him. The Bavarian-based team had agreed with Leipzig on a base fee of 15 million euros, which would be written off in the AG balance sheet over five years. In addition to this, there were two friendlies, each worth 2.5 million euros for RB. If the games don’t take place, Bayern would have to transfer the sum in this way, thus increasing their chances of recovering some of their investment.

Furthermore, there were also five million euros in performance-related bonuses that would only be paid if Nagelsmann led Bayern to win a double or the Champions League. As they did not manage to achieve this, not a penny flowed extra to Leipzig.

Final thoughts

It remains to be seen whether Nagelsmann will indeed be hired by Tottenham, Real Madrid, or any other high-profile team in the coming months. But if he is, Bayern Munich could potentially recover some of their 20 million euros investment, giving them a bit of financial relief in these tough economic times.
