After Lucas Beraldo, the next recruit for PSG this winter was supposed to be Gabriel Moscardo. But due to a foot injury, the Corinthians’ star is not expected to arrive until next summer. The capital club is now considering Kalvin Phillips to strengthen their midfield. However, Parisian leaders are demanding certain guarantees from Manchester City for this transfer.
Expected at PSG this winter, Gabriel Moscardo will have to wait until next summer to arrive in the capital. The Corinthians’ defensive midfielder announced that he will undergo surgery on his left foot. The 18-year-old star is expected to be absent for a period of three months. PSG is therefore looking for another reinforcement in midfield and is considering Kalvin Phillips. However, Manchester City is demanding a total of €52M to part ways with him according to iNews, a branch of The Independent. PSG has nevertheless set its conditions for the transfer of the 28-year-old player.
“PSG has already spent a good amount of money on the two Brazilians, but they could well decide to have more depth in midfield. So if you look at the players available on the market, Philipps is one of the obvious names. He doesn’t play much at Manchester City and it’s been clear for some time that he’s available on the market. He has qualities that he could bring to PSG,” explained journalist Jonathan Johnson in his column for Caught Offside.
PSG will want “guarantees about his physical condition”
“Both clubs being big competitors in the Champions League, I don’t see City letting Phillips go at favorable conditions. If PSG has to spend a lot of money, they will want guarantees about his physical condition since he hasn’t played for a while. This is also the case for Juventus and other interested clubs. That being said, I think Phillips is one of the names considered by PSG in January. I won’t say he’s the only one, but I think Campos will go for the best economic option,” he added. Manchester City has been warned. PSG will not sign Kalvin Phillips if the player is not worth it.
