Paris 2024 Olympics: Chips, Condoms, Sodas… Why Sales of These Products are Expected to Increase During the Competition?

The influx of spectators from around the world is expected to lead to an increase in sales of certain “pleasure products,” according to a study.

It’s 2024 and the Paris Olympics are fast approaching. This summer, spectators from around the world will flock to the capital and host cities in large numbers. As a result of this influx of tourists, consumption is expected to rise and several everyday products are likely to see their sales soar, according to Le Parisien, based on a confidential study conducted by a consumption specialist firm.

The study is based on what London experienced during the 2012 Olympics. That year, international tourists in the British capital spent 6% more than the previous year.

Increase in sales of “pleasure products”

The study focuses in part on a likely increase in sales of “pleasure products” such as chips, alcohol, and beverages, essential for major sporting events.

These events are also conducive to encounters, which sometimes lead to intimate relationships. The study also predicts an increase in condom sales. During the London Olympics, the study noticed a significant 5% increase in condom sales during the summer.
