The PSG made a surprise announcement on Wednesday night by officially extending Presnel Kimpembe’s contract until 2026. This shows absolute confidence in the World Cup champion of 2018, who has been sidelined for several months due to injury and is preparing for another surgery.

On November 28th, le10sport.com exclusively reported that PSG had submitted a lucrative contract extension offer to Presnel Kimpembe (28 years old) despite his long-term injury that has kept him off the field since February 2023. Negotiations were concluded very quickly between PSG and the 2018 World Cup champion.

Wednesday night, after the victory against FC Metz (3-1), PSG officially announced the contract extension of Kimpembe, who has signed with his training club until 2026. “I am very happy to continue my story with my club of heart. I thank Paris Saint-Germain, its President, and its supporters for the renewed trust. I hope to wear these colors again as soon as possible,” explained the central defender in PSG’s official statement.

And a few moments later, on his Instagram account, Kimpembe made another less joyful announcement about his health: “After a long recovery, intense efforts to return to form and reunite with my teammates and the Parc des Princes supporters, I must nevertheless announce that it is likely that I will undergo corrective surgery soon. In all difficult trials, it is necessary to stay positive and to put things into perspective (…) Count on my determination to do everything possible to come back as soon as possible, play, and win with PSG.” The message is clear.
