Carl Zeiss Jena Wins Despite Poor Performance

The announcement from Carl Zeiss Jena’s trainer René Klingbeil was blunt: “We played real shit.” This summed up the team’s unimpressive 90-minute performance. Surprisingly, Jena still managed to win 2-0 against Chemie Leipzig. However, Klingbeil had been simmering with anger even before the match began.

On Friday, midfielder Justin Schau arrived ten minutes late for the final training session. This led to his exclusion from the squad. Klingbeil explained that the team’s basic rules centered on discipline, respect, and adherence to their game plan. Schau’s disciplinary action was necessary, but he would learn from it.

Despite their eventual victory, the team failed to impress, leaving Klingbeil hoarse after the game. He acknowledged that they struggled to find their footing in the first few minutes of the game, engaged in “summer football” instead of sticking to their plan, and failed to create many opportunities up front. The second half was also disappointing.

Nonetheless, Klingbeil was forgiving and proud of his team’s efforts. They managed to claim three points from the match, which took place at Abbe-Sportfeld. While it was a modest show, Jena still managed to secure a win, displaying the perseverance and resilience of the team.
