Is Eintracht Frankfurt Close to Securing Two Midfielder Transfers?

Eintracht Frankfurt has been hard at work preparing for the upcoming season and appears to have found potential new recruits in Hoffenheim. The head of sports, Markus Krösche, has a challenge on his hands as it remains uncertain whether the SBU will participate in an international competition next season. This limits his ability to use the European Cup argument in talks with potential new players. Currently, the club sits at sixth place in the Bundesliga after four winless games, with other clubs waiting for the Adler to make more errors.

It is also unclear who will remain in the current Eintracht Frankfurt squad beyond this summer, as the contracts of some top performers such as Evan Ndicka and Daichi Kamada are set to expire. These players might leave for free to join financially stronger clubs that can guarantee participation in the Champions League. Additionally, Jesper Lindström and Randal Kolo Muani are in high demand among numerous top European teams. It remains to be seen whether Eintracht Frankfurt will let them go or whether they will attempt to hold onto them at all costs.

According to Sport Bild, Eintracht Frankfurt has set its sights on Dennis Geiger and Christoph Baumgartner, a duo from Bundesliga competitor TSG Hoffenheim. Geiger joined the Hoffenheim youth department in 2009 and has been an integral player since turning professional in 2016. However, his contract is set to expire after the current season, and there has been no extension so far.

In contrast, Baumgartner is an Austrian national player who came from St. Pölten’s U18s in 2017. He is still under contract with TSG Hoffenheim until the end of June 2025, but there is reportedly an exit clause of €30 million. The Kraichgauer may be willing to let him go for a smaller sum. Furthermore, if TSG were to face relegation, Baumgartner’s value could decrease, making him a more affordable option for Eintracht Frankfurt.

While there are still many unknowns and risks, Eintracht Frankfurt seems to be actively seeking solutions to improve its squad and achieve better results in the coming season.
