Introducing the Cupra Tavascan: An Angular E-SUV Equipped with VW ID.7 Technology

Presentation Cupra Tavascan: Angular E-SUV with technology from the VW ID.7

Cupra has revealed its latest electric SUV, the Tavascan. While its competitors, the VW ID.5, Audi Q4 Sportback e-tron and Skoda Enyaq Coupé have already been on the market, Cupra’s version stands out visually, with an angular shape compared to the other models’ plump stature. The Tavascan is 4.64 m long with a 2.76 m wheelbase and boasts a decent amount of storage with a 540-liter trunk. Inside, the instrument cluster may have shrunk, but a generously dimensioned 15-inch screen dominates the centre.

Under the hood is where the Tavascan shares similarities with the VW ID.7. The 210 kW electric motor from VW’s new electric SUV is being utilised in the Tavascan, which comes with an optional all-wheel drive model, providing an indication of how powerful the corresponding ID.7 model could be. The Tavascan VZ has a system output of 250 kW, and more versions with 150 and 170 kW engines are likely to follow.

The Tavascan battery holds up to 77 kWh, which is the top range for the time being. However, Cupra has announced that there will be a version with an 85 kWh battery coming next year. The top model of the Tavascan can reach up to 180 km/h and accelerate to 100km/h in just 5.6 seconds. Despite the Tavascan’s specifications, Cupra is yet to announce the price. However, with a basic model starting at least just under 50,000 euros, it’s unlikely to be cheap. Delivery is expected to begin in early 2024.
