HSV: Ex-boss Joachim Hilke & Thomas Hitzlsperger buy Danish club Aalborg BK

Ex-HSV Boss and Ex-National Player Join Aalborg BK as Investors

Joachim Hilke, former Head of Marketing and Communication at HSV, and former Stuttgart boss Thomas Hitzlsperger have taken over 20 percent of the Danish first division club Aalborg BK with their company SSE22. The club is currently fighting against relegation to the second division in Denmark. Hilke and Hitzlsperger also have a right of first refusal to later acquire the majority in Aalborg.

Other partners have pledged EUR 6 million as the first financial injection to support the club.

Aalborg has been Danish champion four times, most recently in 2014, and has won the cup three times. Speaking about the investment, Hitzlsperger said, We are full of anticipation and feel honored to be part of AaB, one of the most prominent football clubs in Denmark with a proud history.

Former National Hockey Coach and Director of Sports Also on Board

Bernhard Peters, the former national hockey coach and director of sports at HSV, is also part of the investment team in Aalborg. Peters is currently an advisor to Werder Bremen, and he said, “Our goal is to strengthen AaB again through a holistic concept from the base in the AaB Academy to the Superliga team.”

The investment from Hilke, Hitzlsperger, and Peters is expected to bring a new level of enthusiasm and support to the Aalborg club. Their experience and knowledge of football, as well as their previous successes in the sport, make them valuable assets to the club and the Danish first division.
