WWDC 2023: How to attend Apple's on-site developer conference

Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) will be held primarily online again this year, with only one day for visitors to attend Apple Park in Cupertino on June 5th for a special event. The process will be the same as at WWDC 2022, with a selected group of visitors watching a recorded keynote of new products and operating systems. Tickets are hard to come by, and the application process is like playing the lottery. Applications can be submitted until April 4th, and certain requirements must be met to be eligible to attend. Tickets are free but non-transferable, and invitations will be randomly assigned.

Apple has not yet revealed how many developers will be allowed to attend the special event, but media representatives from around the world are likely to be present. It is surprising that Apple has not completely normalized the WWDC even after the pandemic, as numerous other events have done. Since 2020, all events with new products from the group are only recordings, making production simpler. Although journalists are also invited, they only watch a video – followed by a hands-on session with the products in the anteroom of the Steve Jobs Theater.

Although the online format simplifies production and makes the event more accessible, many developers lack personal exchange. There has always been a problem with demand being significantly higher than the number of available tickets, and only Apple knows whether the developer conference will ever become a face-to-face event again. Regardless, WWDC remains an essential event for developers and tech enthusiasts alike to explore Apple’s latest offerings.
