HeiseShow: Latest on Twitter, Corona Warning App, and Working from Home | Online Buzzing!

#heiseshow: Twitter, Corona warning app, home office | hot online

Heise online’s heiseshow is back with a bang! With the approach of April Fool’s Day, the viewer can harbor suspicions about the news that will be discussed on the show. The show airs on Thursdays at 5 p.m. The heiseshow will discuss current technical developments and network policy. The audience can join in the discussion by tweeting with the hashtag #heiseshow before, during, and after the show.

The show has undergone some significant changes. In addition to three main topics, the heiseshow now always includes a segment called “WTF of the Week,” the “nerd birthday,” and a quiz. The show’s organizers are particularly keen on audience participation. Questions can be asked beforehand in the forum and during the broadcast in the chat, which will be addressed in the show.

In this episode, moderator Anna Kalinowsky, heise online editor-in-chief, Dr. Volker Zota (@DocZet), and editor and moderator Malte Kirchner (@maltekir) discuss topics such as Twitter, the Corona warning app, and tech companies calling for face-to-face work.

The first topic of discussion is Twitter. Elon Musk intends to favor Twitter Blue subscribers from April, changing the network. The team will analyze this news and discuss the leaked source code and Twitter’s massive loss of value.

The second topic revolves around the Corona warning app, which is being shut down. Although the underlying technology is fascinating, did the warning app actually do a good job? The team will also discuss what can be learned from this for the future.

The third topic is about tech companies calling for face-to-face work. Although tech was known as a pioneer in the home office, Amazon, Meta, and Apple are calling their employees back to the office. The team will discuss what this means for the rest of the world.

The show provides an opportunity for the audience to ask questions of the moderators and guests. Questions can be posed during the show in the YouTube chat, on the Twitch channel (twitch.tv/heiseonline), or in advance by email and in the heise forum.

The show is streamed live every Thursday at 5 p.m. EST on heise online. After the live broadcast, the program is available to watch and listen to on YouTube and as a podcast. The episodes are available in both SD (360p) or HD (720p). Links to the RSS feeds can be found in the adjacent box. The editors are looking forward to the audience’s lively feedback.
